چکیده

To determine the effect of planned two-stage surgery using lateral lumbar interbody fusion (LLIF) on perioperative complication rate following corrective in patients with kyphoscoliosis. Consecutive degenerative scoliosis who underwent were divided into a control group that single-stage posterior-only and two-staged LLIF posterior fusion. We collected patient background surgical data assessed rates. also investigated spinopelvic parameters patient-reported outcome measurements (PROMs). One hundred thirty-eight mean age 69.8 (range, 50–84) years met study inclusion criteria included. The (n = 75) staged anterior–posterior procedure, 63) surgery. There was no significant between-group difference incidence complications, except for deep wound infection (reoperation is necessary site infection). Revision within 3 months initial more common 8, 12.7%) than 3, 4.0%). Spinopelvic PROMs significantly better at 2 postoperatively. similar to previous However, early reoperation less common, degree spinal correction clinical results after

Posterior Lumbar Interbody Fusion

Posterior lumbar interbody fusion (PLIF) is a procedure used to treat problems such as disc degeneration, disc herniation, and spine instability. In this procedure, the surgeon works on the spine from the back and removes a spinal disc in the lower (lumbar) spine. The surgeon inserts bone graft material into the space between the two vertebrae where the disc was removed (the interbody space). T...

Lateral Lumbar Interbody Fusion

The lateral lumbar interbody fusion (LLIF) is a relatively new technique that allows the surgeon to access the intervertebral space from a direct lateral approach either anterior to or through the psoas muscle. This approach provides an alternative to anterior lumbar interbody fusion with instrumentation, posterior lumbar interbody fusion, and transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion for anterior...
